From 1982- when Schuylkill Transportation System (STS) was created under the leadership of the Schuylkill County Commissioners -they have never forgotten that a dependable public transit system is a vital component in the quality of life for the people in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. In the last twenty-four years, STS has transported more than ten million passengers.Their original fixed bus routes have expanded from five to fourteen. In 1982, the average bus in the system was more than fifteen years old. Today, the average bus is less than five years old. STS's objective is to enhance their ability to maintain a world-class transit system that will serve Schuylkill County with distinction, well into the 21st century.

In keeping with that misson, the transportation authority purchased six new paratransit vehicles which arrived in September/October of 2006 and several new Gillig buses scheduled to arrive in 2007.

STS hired LR Marketing Group to redesign the paint scheme on the paratransit vans and fixed route buses to make them more consistent with the transit system's logo and brand identity and to give them a more contemporary, professional look.
